Largs Sailing Club continues to be one of the major Championship Venues in the UK, hosting National and World Championships for a range of different classes.
The 2022 season once again saw lots of great events, starting in May with the One Design Weekend - plenty of wind with four races each day for the 5 classes competing - Musto Skiffs, RS 400/200, D Zero, and “Lasers” (ILCA 6/7). See results and report here.
Then after a postponement of two years, the magnificent and classic Fife yachts, built in Fairlie, returned to the Clyde in June for their 5th Fife Regatta, with the support of Richard Mille. The regatta was the largest gathering of Fife Yachts since the event started in 1998. Report and photographs here.
The Optimists were back again in Largs for their UK National Championships in early August. The 220 competitors had a very good week of racing despite mixed weather, which was brilliant.
The Largs Regatta Festival Weekend on the 26/27 August had 60 dinghies entered, with four races on the Saturday, but light wind on the Sunday prevented the traditional round Cumbrae dinghy race. However a race round the fixed marks in the Largs Channel was possible after a late start as some wind filled in.
Now 2023 awaits with our HARKEN One Design Regatta in the diary for 20/21 May with the same classes invited - maybe even needing two race tracks with the initial interest we are seeing. This is followed once again by the ever successful Largs Regatta Festival Weekend at the end of August. More details can be seen in the banner to the right.
There is a guide below summarising our event hosting facilities, local information, and attractions. Also an accommodation list, which has been compiled in good faith. LSC does not act as a booking agent, and does not warrant the quality of the accommodation listed.
